Troy Widgery: Record Setter

Troy Widgery has long believed that in order to enjoy life, an individual has to be willing to push beyond the boundaries of what is expected. He infused this belief into everything he did in life, including the Go Fast Company he founded in 1996. Few other companies can boast of the appetite for the extremes quite like Go Fast has, and Troy Widgery has set the company apart from the competition by venturing into new frontiers and setting records.

The ‘live life on the edge’ mantra has enabled the Go Fast Sports and Beverage Company set records in many aspects. For starters, the company has the Go Fast Jet Pack, which is a brainchild of Troy Widgery and his colleagues. In line with the founder’s love of extreme sports, the company has also broken records with the highest reverse bungee jump in history with the Go Fast Human Slingshot, as well as the world’s longest motorcycle ride through a blazing tunnel of fire. In 2007, the Go Fast Jet Pack set a world record in height and distance traveled from the center point of the Royal Gorge in Canyon City Colorado. To top it all off, Go Fast bears the unique distinction of being the first energy drink to be consumed in outer space.

Troy Widgery has only known one speed when approaching life and its challenges, and that is fast. He has earned the respect and admiration of members of the business community, and has continued to be the face of a growing legion of extreme lifestyle enthusiasts.

Troy Widgery: Living the Go Fast Lifestyle

To many, Troy Widgery is just a successful founder and CEO of the Go Fast Sports and Beverage Company. To a large extent, that is true, as Troy has worked hard to establish a company whose main audience is thrill-seekers and those fond of extreme sports. However, those close to him know that his love of extreme sports and fast lifestyle is part of his DNA.

A devoted and experienced BASE jumper and skydiver, Troy Widgery harbored dreams of becoming a stuntman when he was a kid. He started racing quarter midget cars when he was four years old and turned out to be good at it. At age seven, he took his love of speed a notch higher and could be found racing motorcycles. This early start with an extreme lifestyle spurred him to take on more sports, and by the age of sixteen, he was already skydiving.

When he established the Go Fast brand in 1996, Troy Widgery was looking to establish a venture that would reflect his love of extreme sports. In the beginning, the company manufactured apparel for people who shared Troy’s thrill-seeking nature, and soon expanded to include sports drinks and chewing.

Over the course of his career, Troy Widgery has established two successful business ventures. While he is synonymous with the Go Fast brand, his first venture was a skydiving accessories company. Both companies reflect his passion for living on the edge, pursuing a dream regardless of the obstacles in the way, and pushing boundaries.

Troy Widgery: From Tragedy to Triumph

Troy Widgery is no stranger to tragedy, having barely survived a horrific plane crash in 1993, one that took the lives of 16 of his fellow passengers. On his way to training for the US Skydiving Championships at Perris Valley Skydiving in Southern California, Troy Widgery was the member of a group seeking only to prepare for an elite-level competition.

As Troy Widgery remembers, the engines on the team’s jump plane failed during takeoff, sending the plane careening into the ground. Only six passengers were lucky enough to survive the devastating crash, which Widgery looks back on with sadness. Though nearly losing his life on that fateful day, Troy Widgery has become an enduring and optimistic tragedy survivor, continuing to pursue adventure and excitement in any way he can. Still an avid skydiver, he pursues the sport with a unquenched thirst for life, and for the extreme, seeking out the thrill and heart-pumping adrenaline rush of skydiving jumps when and wherever he can.

Troy Widgery has turned his thrill-seeking nature into a successful company, creating the successful and growing Go Fast Sports and Beverage Company in 1996. The company, which offers consumers a high-quality line of Go Fast Energy Drinks, Gum and Clothing Apparel, has made its mark in the business community, and continues on with its quick rise to the top of the industry.

Troy Widgery reflects back on that tragic day, reminding himself that life is indeed short, and that every minute should be seized and enjoyed to its fullest.

Troy Widgery Has a Passion for Flying

The Founder and CEO of what he calls “The Athlete’s Energy Brand”, Go Fast leader Troy Widgery continues to respect and admiration of not only members of the business community, but also the many loyal customers his company has sold high-quality clothing apparel, energy drinks and energy gum to since the business’s inception.

Though Go Fast is a highly-successful leader in the energy drink and sporting apparel markets, it isn’t the only company that Troy Widgery has turned into a smashing success story. The original leader, and founder, of Sky Systems, a leading skydiving helmet and accessory company, Troy Widgery has experience pushing his innovations into the forefront of industry. A skydiving expert and enthusiast, Widgery saw an opening, and a demand, for a high-quality line of skydiving safety equipment, and seized the opportunity to make it happen.

Troy Widgery is well-known business professional and adventurist, though he has also always had a passion for flying machines. His interest in these machines was piqued as a child, the first time he had an opportunity to watch the James Bond adventure movie “Thunderball.” Noticing a jet pack used by Bond during one of the film’s many action sequences, Troy Widgery developed a passion for building the same kind of machine. Now a successful business owner, he has had the means and the support needed to build his own jet pack, one that has been featured during numerous events and TV broadcasts and that has broken numerous world records.

Troy Widgery took his passion for flying into a unique direction, one that amazes and delights people of all ages.

Troy Widgery: Branding a Lifestyle

Though initially created by Troy Widgery as a line of high-quality sports apparel, the Go Fast company soon became synonymous with the Go Fast brand of Energy Drink and Gum. Go Fast took on a momentum of its one, becoming one of the most well-known manufacturers of high-quality products to have ever come out of Denver, Colorado, and one that continues to experience significant growth and success to this day.

Troy Widgery has infused his passion for ‘living on the edge’ into his brand, producing products that both appeal and are meant for people who share his zest for thrill-seeking and adventure. Troy Widgery sees the Go Fast brand as a survivor, one that offers better quality products than all the corporate giants while maintaining an independent and authentic spirit. Troy Widgery has set both himself and his company apart from the corporate herd, producing a quality line of products and establishing a brand he believes will survive and thrive well into the future.

Troy Widgery is now pursuing a childhood dream, one he hopes to make an integral part of the Go Fast line and that will solidify the company’s spot in history. Always a fan of jetpacks, which until recently hasn’t been a commercially-viable technology, Troy Widgery is currently working on the development of a jetpack that can be soon introduced to the consumer market. The Go Fast Jet Pack has already proven to be a high-performing and record-breaking idea, surpassing speed, height and distance records and earning recognition in the media. The Go Fast Jet Pack has been successfully demonstrated to work during the London Olympics, Colorado’s Royal Gorge and near the tallest building in Dubai.

Troy Widgery: More Than Just A Business

Troy Widgery says that his Go Fast Sports and Beverage Company is more than just a business enterprise; he says it represents a lifestyle.

He began Go Fast in 1996. Troy Widgery had by then already demonstrated his skill in business. He had founded Sky Systems while he was still a student at the University of Colorado, and it quickly became the leading manufacturer of skydiving helmets and other accessories.

Go Fast Sports and Beverage Company, succeeded even more than Sky Systems, and Troy Widgery was able to pursue one of his childhood dreams. After seeing a jet pack demonstrated at a Go Fast event, Troy Widgery and a couple of his friends decided to build one of their own. The result was the Go Fast Jet Pack.

In 2007, the Go Fast Jet Pack and its pilot set a world record for a Jet Pack Flight from the center point of the Royal Gorge in Canyon City Colorado to the edge, a distance of about 1500 feet, soaring 1,153 feet above the canyon floor. The Go Fast Jet Pack has also astonished spectators at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, England, when its pilot flew the Olympic Torch on Day 46 of its route around the country. Later the Go Fast Jet Pack was flown in front of the world’s tallest building in Dubai.

Troy Widgery has always dreamed big, and the Go Fast Jet Pack is the biggest things he has managed so far. But he still has a lot of ideas, and Troy Widgery and the Go Fast lifestyle may come up with even more awe-inspiring ideas in the years ahead.

Troy Widgery: Living On The Edge

Troy Widgery began Go Fast as a line of sports clothing, but the company later expanded to include the Go Fast Energy Drink and Go Fast Energy Gum. Today, Go Fast has the Go Fast Jet Pack, and Troy Widgery hopes that one day he can have a version of it available for the consumer market.

Troy Widgery has always loved living on the edge, even as a child. When he was four years old, Troy Widgery began racing quarter midget cars, and by the age of seven was racing motorcycles. As a teenager he began skydiving.

When he was a student at the University of Colorado, his passion for skydiving was channeled into business. Troy Widgery founded Sky Systems, a maker of sky diving helmets, and the company quickly became the leading manufacturer of skydiving helmets and accessories.

Troy Widgery founded Go Fast in 1996. The company was originally making sports apparel, but soon added the Go Fast Energy Drink and Go Fast Energy Gum. Go Fast was by then not merely a company, Troy Widgery says, but a lifestyle.

Troy Widgery had always wanted to fly in a jetpack like the one James Bond flew in the movie Thunderball. Go Fast Sports and Beverage Company became the means of realizing that dream. “The goal,” Troy Widgery says, “was to build a lighter, faster, more economical and longer-flying hydrogen peroxide jet pack than the original Rocket Belt built by Bell Aerosystems in the 1960’s, and the successors, which have been based on that model.”

The Go Fast Jet Pack was born. It has established world records for jet packs by flying across Colorado’s Royal Gorge, a distance of fifteen hundred feet at seventy-five miles an hour.

Troy Widgery: A Lifestyle Brand

Troy Widgery founded Go Fast in 1996, and the company began selling a line of sports clothing. But Go Fast quickly expanded, and turned into something else: what its founder calls a way of life.

“Go Fast is an independent, authentic, lifestyle brand; in an industry full of corporate giants,” Troy Widgery says. “On any given day, you can find a member of the Go Fast Team skydiving, B.A.S.E. jumping, racing, cycling, snowboarding, and living The Go Fast Lifestyle! Go Fast is made for people who have a passion for living life on the edge.”

Before long, Go Fast was manufacturing and selling not only sports apparel, but the Go Fast energy drink and Go Fast energy gum. The company was doing very well, but Troy Widgery had a dream he had been nursing since childhood. 2003, after seeing a rocket belt flight at a Go Fast Event, he and a couple of friends decided to build a jet pack of their own.

That idea resulted in the Go Fast Jet Pack, a futuristic jet pack that is one of the best jet packs in existence today. Troy Widgery and has proven that his Go Fast Jet Pack works. It has amazed viewers on segments of Monday Night Football, Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Fox News channel, CNN, Good Morning America, and many other TV programs. The Go Fast Jet Pack was demonstrated in a flight in front of the world’s tallest building in Dubai, when it flew around an electronic billboard for about half a minute. It was demonstrated at the Summer Olympic Games in London in 2012, and has set a jet pack record when its pilot flew it across the Royal Gorge.

Troy Widgery: Life After Tragedy

Troy Widgery has always gone fast. As a four year old, he was racing quarter midget cars, and winning both races and championships. He started racing motorcycles at seven, and by the time he was a teenager at Cherry Creek High School in his native Denver, Colorado, Troy Widgery was jumping out of airplanes. “I was fifteen,” he recalls, “and I was trying to learn all different sports, and skydiving was one of them.”

Troy Widgery kept up with skydiving and became very good at it, but his also took his passion for and channeled it into business. While he was still a student at the University of Colorado, he founded Sky Systems, which very quickly became the leading manufacturer of skydiving helmets and accessories in the country.

In 1993, as a member of the Airmoves skydiving team, Troy Widgery survived a serious plane crash that killed most of those on board. He had been training for the U.S. Skydiving Championships when the tragedy occurred in Southern California.

Three years later, Troy Widgery founded another company. Go Fast Sports. He describes it as not just a company, but a way of life. Go Fast Sports evolved into Go Fast Sports and Beverage, with a line of sports clothing and a beverage called Go Fast Energy Drink.

Now the Go Fast lifestyle has gone further than anyone but Troy Widgery might have imagined. In 2003 he and a couple of friends put their heads together to help Troy realize a lifelong dream. They developed and manufactured the Go Fast Jet Pack, a futuristic flying machine that has already set world records for jet packs. Troy Widgery’s Go Fast Jet Pack flew some fifteen hundred across Colorado’s Royal Gorge at seventy-five miles an hour.

And when he can find the time, Troy Widgery still enjoys skydiving.

Troy Widgery: Surviving A Tragedy

Troy Widgery was lucky to escape with his life in 1993, when a plane he was on crashed on takeoff. He was one of just six survivors.

Troy Widgery had been a passionate skydiver since he was a teenager and he was good: on that fateful day, the plane was taking up a team of who were headed for the U.S. Skydiving Championships. Troy Widgery and eighteen other skydivers were training at Perris Valley Skydiving in Southern California that day, when one of the engines on the jump plane failed, and the aircraft went crashing to the ground

“It was bad fuel,” Troy Widgery recalls. “The pilot feathered the wrong engine…down-wind take off…and so we were probably three hundred feet up when the plane nosedived in. I remained conscious for the most part…other than right at impact. They estimate that we hit at six G’s of force. There were twenty-two people on the plane, and sixteen people died; six of us lived.”

Such a harrowing experience might deter other people, but Troy Widgery has always had a passion for extreme events. Today the Denver, Colorado native is the CEO of Go Fast Sports and Beverage Company whose most remarkable product to date is the Go Fast Jet Pack. Troy Widgery says he was thrilled by the idea of a jetpack and everything it represented ever since he saw the James Bond movie Thunderball as a child. “Ever since I saw that movie, I wanted a Jet Pack,” he says today.

The Go Fast Jet Pack has yet to make it to the consumer market. But it has already set world records for speed and altitude, and has even been piloted over the Royal Gorge in Colorado. Troy Widgery is kept very busy with Go Fast Sports and Beverage Company, and doesn’t have much free time these days. But when he does, he enjoys extreme events like BASE jumping, snowboarding, and – in spite of the 1993 tragedy – skydiving.
